Last week we finished a new training course on Educational for Sustainable Development

Last week we finished a new training course on Educational for Sustainable Development (ESD). This was the eighth activity held within the framework of the cooperation existing between Israel and Kenya for the promotion and implementation of ESD.

Once again we received an outstanding group of Kenyans educators who will implement in the better possible way what was shared with them.  The lectures and facilitators who met them were amazed by their charmed and professional level.

The training course emphasized three topics: Documentation and its importance to the purpose of sharing; Entrepreneurship skills and approach as a boost in our children's education and Art as a tool to develop creativity, connect to our culture and educational approach.

This training course had also two special participants: Mr.Fidelis Joseph Nakhulo, Deputy Director of the Department of Quality and Assurance of the Ministry of Education of Kenya and Mr.Joseph Karuga, Chairman of KEPSHA (Kenyan Primary School Head Teachers Association). These provided an opportunity to enhance the project and prepared the next steps to come.

The closing ceremony had a guest of honor that strengthen Israel-Kenya ties, Foreign Minister of Kenya Amina Mohamed. Accompanying Foreign Minister Mohamed were Head of MASHAV Ambassador Daniel Carmon; MFA Deputy Director General Africa Division, Avi Granot; Israel’s Ambassador to Kenya, Gil Haskel; the Director of MASHAV’s Training Department, Ambassador Mattanya Cohen; Kenya’s Ambassador to Israel, H.E. Augostino S. K. Njoroge; and senior Kenyan officials. The shared messages during the event strengthen both sides commitment to Education.

In the coming month our Director, Yudith Rosenthal and Eyal Bloch, Cofounder of the Institute for Sustainable Education at David Yellin Academic College of Education, will be again in Kenya in order to move forward this collaboration project.
