More learning and experience of the Special & Inclusive Edu participants

May 24, 2018
Following these wise words ,we 25 participants from every corner of the world have the opportunity to interact with many experts on “Special and Inclusive Education”, these are days that are definitely full of lessons and insights, a combination that is an inspiration for educators whose mandate is to constantly think of innovative ways to bring knowledge to learners, hopefully using the evolving context of technology and collaborative learning to meet the standard of education of this 21st century and to create the conditions to fly and realize that all is in our hands.

During the visits to the different schools it was noticed  one hand, the common value to all schools mission of love which teachers and all school members spread to their children. On the other hand, we could notice that each school is unique and has its own personality. Each school understand that every child whom they are working with is unique and has different and unique individuality. Among the 4 educational organizations than have been visited during this week,” Karen Alfajeb “school for blind and deaf children is the most interesting one that most participants would like to point out. A participant mentioned that “If I ever had an opportunity to go back to school again it would be exactly this school”.

We all were inspired by the speech of Professor Rusell A. Barkley from USA, delivered during the Congress on ADHD (Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), about the ADHD and SCT in the society. Professor Rusell A. Barkley has shared not only about new findings related to life course outcomes of ADHD and importance of emotion in ADHD implication for diagnosis and treatment but also how and why the society especially education system should invest on ADHD and SCT. The speaker really helped us to look to the situation in different angle.

And there was that very interesting lesson “ Hackthon”, in which different people with different abilities worked together to find solution with innovative ideas. This activity is an inquiry or project based learning that helped participants to reflect and examine the problem and to come up with solutions using our knowledge and creativity. Collaborative technique can be used in education system to make teaching and learning more effective in schools to help children with special needs. Another lesson on “Effective Presentation" by Mr. Oded Blank focus on technical practices of communication which is very important in terms of bringing success in daily or professional life.

As is written in Deuteronomy 8(verse 7), “For the Lord your God is bringing you to a good land, a land with brooks of water, fountains and depths, that emerge in valleys and mountains ....” a land of plenty. We got to see this wondrous land in its diversity in our sightseeing excursions. Visiting the area of Galilee, driving through the towns of Migdal, Tiberias and exploring the archaeological ruins of the town of Capernaum was truly amazing. The icing on the cake was the Jordan River baptismal site, where seven of the Mashav family members entered the holy river Jordan. The ambience and energy of the entire day’s experience will remain a hallowed memory in our consciousness forever. The therapeutic card session at night was a nice culmination of the day.

The main insight we are taking from this days relays on fact that the great aim of education is not knowledge but action without missing  out on the children abilities, beauty, and uniqueness doesn’t matter what are the challenges they meet along their path.
